Major Design Goals
  • Complement existing Rosewood furniture in family room & entry.
  • Continue hardwood throughout the kitchen, family room & entry & create aesthetic tie to new cabinetry. Create contrast from wood cabinets to wood floor areas.
  • Complement black marble fireplace in adjacent family room & black high gloss staircase in entry.
  • Complement existing “reed” glass pantry door.
  • Complement existing slate blue cushioned & black framed bar stools.
  • Continue contemporary feel to the existing spaces.
  • Enhance view out kitchen sink window.
  • Create rich, elegant aura to new kitchen spaces by utilizing high end products & materials.
  • Maintain nearly same footprint as existing without encroaching on other areas. Create adequate clearances around the island to allow for increased traffic flow.

    How Goals Were Accomplished:

    • New cabinetry is built from Honduran Mahogany to flow with existing Rosewood furniture & a Wenge inlay detail is fitted to all door & drawer panels to create a tie to a new 1 ½” Wenge floor inlay. New & existing hardwood floor areas are sanded & re-finished lighter to off set the deep, rich furniture grade cabinetry.
    • New Blue Eyes granite slab countertops (gray tone) provide ties to black marble in family room & gloss black staircase. New low-voltage lighting above island & kitchen sink with luminescent blue globes provide cooling tie to lake view through kitchen & nook windows. These additions complement the slate blue & black trimmed bar stools.
    • Kitchen sink bay window is enlarged to enhance the lake view. See picture showing the view out of the kitchen sink window.
    • “Reed” glass cabinet doors are utilized with low-voltage hockey pucks to create an elegant, mood enhancing ambiance.
    • Utilization of quality, high end materials.
