Design Goals:

• Create a new master suite to fit the owner’s budget with a small master bath, a small walk-in closet, & a decent size master bedroom to accommodate the family and provide the owner’s a quiet area away from the main part of the house
• The growing family needed more space and an additional bathroom, since the house only had one bathroom
• They desired a bathroom that could be accessible to the new pool in the back of the house
• The owner desired a cute, functional, master bathroom with a shower, single lavatory & toilet

Design Goals Accomplished:

• The new master suite was designed as a separate wing of the house, thereby bringing the house closer to the pool that was located on the very back of their deep lot
• Hallway access to the new master suite was created by taking space out of the existing back bedroom, leaving just enough space for an adequately sized kid’s bedroom
• The master bedroom now allows for the family to have a comfortable, quiet, sequestered retreat from the main body of the home
• The new master bathroom was designed to allow for an exterior entry and a master bedroom entry, thereby meeting their pool access goals
• A French, 1-lite, glass door was utilized to allow for natural light into the bathroom
• Stepped, glass block on top of a new pony-wall toilet divider, provides architectural beauty
• Quality materials, like a vessel lavatory, natural cherry cabinets, colorful tile shower and countertop, & tile floor, were selected to complement the rest of the home and provide the bathroom with design interest typically uncommon in such small spaces
• Energy-efficient vinyl windows and doors were used in the master bedroom and bathroom, just like the rest of the home
• Exterior details were matched to give the addition that “it’s always been a part of the house” feel
• New carpet was installed in the master bedroom & master closet for it’s comfortable and quieting features, as well as for budgetary issues (the rest of the home has hardwood floors)
