Design & Remodel Mission
- Update a river canyon home to allow for increased views to the canyon, a more open floor plan and more light to the existing remodel areas.
- Eliminate the existing galley style kitchen to allow for a larger kitchen.
- Create a new kitchen that would complement the adjoining family room.
- Create a comfortable, casual atmosphere with improved traffic flow in the kitchen from the family room.
- Create a more open, brighter, airy feel to the new kitchen and master bathroom - under the existing roof-line.
- Enhance the feel of the kitchen and master bath by using angles and radius. Create comfortable, cozy spaces.
- Eliminate the existing, interior, master bathroom and master closet, and relocate the new master bathroom to an exterior wall location and relocate the master closet to where the existing bath was located.
- Perform minor remodels of the guest bath & laundry room, as well as installing new hard surface flooring (hardwood & tile) throughout the entire home. Also included was re-painting the interior of the home & sand & re-finish of the existing hardwood floor areas.
Mission Accomplished:
Kitchen
- The galley style kitchen was eliminated and replaced with an island design that allowed for better access and increased kitchen flow.
- Transom windows were added above the existing kitchen sink windows and above the family room patio slider to allow for a more dramatic visual effect and increased view of the river canyon.
- The kitchen was lightened up with natural maple cabinetry, earth tone granite slab countertops, and natural hardwood floors with a contrasting finish color.
- Radius elements were added in the form of a radius island overhang, a radius range hood, a full, bull-nose, granite slab, edge detail, and radius pendant, light lamps. These elements all function to create a softer feel to the kitchen.
- Recessed can lighting was installed in the ceiling and low-voltage hockey puck lighting was installed in under wall cabinet locations. The lighting functions together to create a wonderful, warm illumination of the new kitchen.
- Glass cabinet doors at the upper sections of the wall cabinets lend balance and aesthetic interest.
- Stainless steel appliances, stainless cabinet door hardware & stainless steel sinks provide a quality, high-tech appearance.
